Why does a 30-something without a background in fashion start a clothing label? That seems to me to be a fair question.
A few years ago, I was voicing my frustration at the dearth of clothing options for me as a 151 cm woman, who was absolutely over having to shop in the kids’ section or settle for clothing that definitely was not made with someone like me in mind. Rolled hems, skewed fits, making do. From the frustration sprang an idea - to do something about it.
Through years of learning in the background and starting from scratch, On A Good Day was created. Our second collection, in production, is one I’m particularly proud of. It’s a collection of staples crafted from crisp organic cotton and I am bursting at the seams to share with you soon.
So why do I care enough to step out of the boat and give On A Good Day a go? Because of hope. I have a hope that one day, women who are shorter than the average feel they are not an afterthought - that there is plenty of space at the table for them.
The big hope is that one day On A Good Day will be able to provide women up to 160cm (5 ft 3) with a comprehensive collection of pieces that provide all the elements they are looking for - clothing for year round, for any and every moment. As we are still in the days of small beginnings, my current hope is that the upcoming collection offers something of worth to wonderful women who may have been overlooked by an entire industry, but at On A Good Day are seen and designed for with intention and care.
